Prof Peter Jones is Professor Emeritus in the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management at the University of Surrey and Brahim Professor at the Universiti Putra Malaysia.  Up to 2010 he held the ITCA Chair of Operations Management at Surrey, and before that the Forte Chair of Hotel Management.

 

Prof Jones has played a significant role in academic and industry associations.  In 1992, he founded EuroCHRIE and was its first President.  He has also served as President and Vice President of International CHRIE, Chair of the Hospitality Partnership, and as a member of the British Hospitality Association's National Executive Committee.

 

For over thirty years, Prof Jones has demonstrated a sustained, focused stream of research in the hospitality and tourism industry in two main areas – the field of operations management and the field of travel catering. In the last thirty years, Prof. Jones has published twelve textbooks (as illustrated) and over 80 journal articles and book chapters. He has presented at conferences or run seminars in many countries throughout the world.

 

Prof Jones is also a hospitality management consultant to industry firms, professional associations and educational institutions. He holds a MBA from London Business School and a PhD from the University of Surrey.  He is a Fellow of the Institute of Hospitality and Honourary Fellow of the Council for Hospitality Management Education.
